Editorial

Dear readers and friends,

The winter term has already become traditional for issuing the second number of our periodical Knihovna: knihovnická revue. The reviewed  part contains two contributions. In the first instance the study of Helena Kučerová from the Institute of information studies at the Faculty of Arts of the Charles University Relations of information resources: an attempted interdisciplinary synthesis, with focus upon the summarizing of theoretical principles governing relations between the information resources formed by different disciplines, a review of various types of relations and their synthesis and, finally, applications upon specific information sources.

The second contribution is the paper by Miroslav Bartoška from the Institute of Information Technology at the Masaryk University in Brno under the title Archivematica – open source system for digital archiving. The author presents information about the system Archivematica that is intended for supporting digital information archived over long term periods of time in accordance with the OAIS model.

This contribution is logically linked with the not reviewed part where author Zdeněk Hruška from the Moravian Land Library in Brno presents an overview of selected foreign digital repositories (Archivematica – some selected foreign projects), making use of the open source system Archivematica for long-term archiving. The next article (in the LTP block) is the one by Andrea Miranda from the Central Library of the Charles University in Prague focusing upon  Trustworthy repositories, their audit and certification.

Authors Jan Hutař (at the time being active in a New Zealand archive) and Marek Melichar (a fellow at the Institute of computer Technology of the Charles University in Prague) have submitted two contributions. The first presents a pragmatic approach to long-term archiving.  The second, a sort of continuation, deals directly with Tools for digital archiving, offering an outline of basic information about tools and information resources applicable in the field of long-term archiving of digital content.

The not reviewed part is complemented by the contribution offering the history of our periodical, having only just entered the 25th year of its existence. After the description of periods having gone through by the journal, the future trends have been outlined.

This issue is concluded by the review of the monograph Search systems of industrial and legal information, prepared by Richard Papík and, as always, News of foreign librarian literature.

Our journal can look back at a year full of changes. First of all we have changed the web site of our periodical –now see http://knihovnarevue.nkp.cz/ and we have added also the English version – http://knihovnarevue-en.nkp.cz/. Further we have introduced, for the first time during the existence of the journal an editorial system. We have also been more active in organizing medial partnership in form of professional conferences, even with overlap to Slovakia : becoming medial partners of the Inforum Conference, Present Day Library, Infos, Conference of Grey Literature and Repositories and the conference Archives, Libraries and Museums in the Digital World. In concluding we take pride to announce that our journal has been accepted to the prestigious database of scientific periodicals ERIH PLUS (The European Reference Index for the Humanities and Social Science). Of course we will try to go on improving our work. That is why we will be thankful for your written or oral comments, suggestions and questions.  Let me extend my thanks to all participating in the publication of our periodical; it could not be issued without their support. Let me thank the reviewers, the editors (in particular my colleague Anna Machová), graphic expert Ms. Alena Křesalová as well as colleagues Daniel Kindl and Jindřich Pilař.

This year being over for all of us, it seems still appropriate to wish one another Health, Happiness, Love and Success throughout 2016.
